Mr. Boyce

Mr. Boyce is currently the Director of Bands at Terrell ISD. He was previously the head director at Community ISD.  the associate director at Stone Middle School, as well as the percussion coordinator director at Stone/North Lamar ISD and associate director at the High School. There, the bands have received Bronze, Silver, and Gold at State Marching Contest, named TMEA Honor Band, numerous finalist "Outstanding Performance Series" and several 1st place awards. The percussion there also place 3rd in the PASIC Chamber Ensemble Competition.

Roderick received his Bachelors in Music Education at Southern Arkansas In his spare time, Mr. Boyce composes and arranges for marching and concert ensemble where his marching shows have been performed at SMBC and has finished as high as 1st and 3rd in the State.

Mr. Boyce also team teaches with Mr. Chavez, Mr. Adams, Mr. Leanos, Mr. Ascano, and Mr. Davidson at Furlough Middle School.

His philosophy is to give an enjoyable and productive experience to students which will hopefully result for them to further succeed in music as well as in life.

Mr. Chávez

Mr. Chávez was born and raised in Mesquite, TX, and is returning to the Tiger Band Family for another great year of growth and success! Mr. Chávez went to Oklahoma Baptist University and has taught at both the middle school and high school levels. Mr. Chávez is the director of the THS Symphonic Band and assists the other THS and FMS bands.

Mr. Adams

Landon Adams received both his education and a large portion of his professional experience in his home state of Colorado. He attended Colorado State University where he was a part of the percussion studio and earned both a Bachelors and Masters in Music Performance. While working toward those degrees, Mr. Adams had the opportunity to perform in a wide variety and had the pleasure of performing nationally and internationally. Notable performances include the Percussive Arts Society International Convention as well as a 1st placement in the 2016 CSU Concerto Competition. In 2018, Mr. Adams moved to the DFW area to pursue more teaching opportunities. He began teaching in Mesquite ISD as a percussion tech, later moving on to Arlington ISD as a percussion director. As a percussion director, Mr. Adams has seen his students achieve sweepstakes at UIL and 1st division ratings at both region and state solo/ensemble competitions. Mr. Adams is very excited for his third year directing the Terrell ISD percussion section!

Mr. Ascaño

Mr. Nathan Ascaño is the Colorguard Director for Terrell High School and Furlough Middle School. Ascaño has served as Colorguard Director and Assistant Band Director for TISD since the fall of 2018.


A Texan through and through, Ascaño grew up in Wichita Falls, TX where he graduated from S.H. Rider High School. After graduating from high school Mr. Ascaño began teaching local high school Colorguards while studying at Midwestern State University for Music Education. Nathan was a performer for many organizations such as MSU Winterguard 2004, 2006, 2007, and 2008; Black Gold Winterguard 2005, 2010, and 2019; Blue Knights Drum and Bugle Corps 2007 and 2008; and Toccare Winds 2020 and 2021.

Before working at Terrell, Mr. Ascaño served as Colorguard Director and Assistant Band Director at Crystal City ISD from 2010-2015, and Wills Point ISD from 2015-2018.

Mr. Davidson

Mr. Davidson is the head middle school director at Furlough Middle School. He received his bachelors from TWU & UNT in music education. While in College Mr. Davidson marched in Genesis Drum and Bugle Corps as well as served as the Vice President of the Pioneer's Music Educators Association and the President of the Pioneer Ambassador of Tuba and Euphonium. In 2020, Mr. Davidson was in the CBDNA Southwestern Division Intercollegiate Honor Band. He is truly excited to be begin his third year of teaching here at Terrell ISD.

Mr. Leaños

Mr. Leaños is the new Assistant Director at Furlough Middle School, where he will be in charge of the Symphonic band and beginner band classes. He will be beginning his 4th year of teaching, and 1st year here at Terrell ISD. Originally from Kaufman TX, José received his Bachelor of Science in Music Education from Texas A&M University-Commerce. During his time teaching he has discovered his passion for helping his students succeed in not only school, but also helping them find the tools they need take on life outside of school. In his free time José enjoys weight training and spending time with his family and friends.
